Task Two

Report in a media production context

Slide One

I will introduce myself to the audience and tell them a bit about myself. I will then provide information as to what my report is about and outline the key points. I will make sure that I maintain good eye contact with my audience, it is important to look confident and to show the audience that you know what you are talking about. I will dress formal and this will give them a good impression of myself. I will have to make sure that I am projecting my voice and I am speaking clearly as it important that the audience can hear me clearly and not miss out vital information.

Slide Two

I will provide an outline as to what our product is and its target audience. I have included our logo on to the slide so that the audience can familiarise themselves with the name of the product. I will also discuss the process of choosing our target audience and provide background research about them.

Slide Three

Here is some of the graphs we have produced with the responses we have gained from our questionnaire. I will provide the audience with the information that is shown in the graphs.

All 12 of our respondents from our questionnaire have agreed that they like the concept of our product. This proves that our product will sell well.  Out of the 12 people we asked, 8 people were male.

All 8 men said that they would be happy to use our product. This was a great response as our product is targeted at men.

8 out of 12 people we asked would pay the price of £2.50 for our product. This is a very good response as we will gain a very good profit.

Slide Four

This slides provides information as to how we are going to market our product. I will provide information on how we are going to reach our target audience explaining their TV habits, what time they tend to watch TV and which channels would be best to showcase our advert and product.

Slide Five

This slide covers future developments. We included questions for suggestions for further products and improvements. We gained great responses and were given valuable suggestions. The graphs above provide information on what the suggestions are and how many people agree with them.

Slide Six

The slide showcases our competitors. I will explain how each brand markets their products and how we are going to compete against them. I will explain how there is a place in the market for our product and how it will be unique amongst the rest. I will outline the reasons why our product is has some differences compared to these brands.

Marketing

Our product is an all-in-one body wash called: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
What defines the product is that, the all-in-one wash includes a formula that can wash the whole body, including the hair.

The target consumers for the ‘all in one wash’ are MEN, with an age range of 13 (teenage hormones) to 30 (after this age, men become more mature and demand a more upmarket product). Our consumer base is the same as people that buy LYNX.
The body wash includes a hint of the fragrance ‘Hugo Boss Bottled’, which is a very popular fragrance among men.

The packaging of the product will mirror its rival. It will include the initials of the product, and an image of tigers face focusing on its eyes and a tigers scratch marks. The packaging will also specify that a hint of Hugo Boss is included in the product. The product will stand out above its rivals because of its unique labelling and product features.

The ‘Lines of Appeal’ in the advert will be comedy and humour to promote and raise awareness of the product. The advert will include a good-looking male as men will admire him and women would want a man like him. The product focuses on self-perception and pride, by using this product, men will be able to bring out the masculinity they have within them. The style of the advert will be dramatic and surreal; the product will show the audience what type of effect it will have on the character in the advert.

The advert will have a realist narrative as the advert will focus on the main character taking a shower using the product. The persuasive techniques we are using are gaining attention, a slogan, a jingle, repetition of the products name, female voice. Our aim is to grab the attention of the audience; we will do this making our advert memorable and by making sure our labelling is unique and eye-catching.

Our slogan is ‘STAY FRESH’; this will tie in with our narrative of staying clean. The advert will include a masculine male voice describing the product. The reason why we are going to feature a male’s voice is to grab the attention of the target audience which is men. Our advert will constantly repeat the name of product through the voice over.

The price of the product is £2.50, which is affordable. The product will appear in all supermarkets and retail stores. Our advert would appear on ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Our product will be on TV during the day, evening and night in order to reach its audience.

Self evaluation

I am happy with myself and my production groups decisions in advertising our product. as our target audience is men, we have conducted thorough research as to what will appeal to our audience. we wanted our product to be unique and stand out compared to our competitors. one thing that we noticed is that many male body washes do not contain popular male fragrances. for that reason, we decided to have our body wash contain the fragrance of Hugo Boss Bottled. This proved to be very successful for our target audience.

My production group and I worked very well together at making the product the best it can be. we all researched to see if a males body wash could be marketed well and research stated that it can.We all had the passion and drive of making this product and advert successful. I took on the role of organising the group, making sure that we were all putting in hard work and effort and were progressing each time we met.

Important Factors

Grammar

Grammar is very important in writing. Maintaining perfect grammar stops you from being misunderstood. When producing business documents it vital that you showcase that you understand and use perfect grammar and that you know how to write effectively. Providing poor grammar can make you come across un-professional and inexperienced. You may miss out on amazing opportunities due to not meeting the standards required. Grammar can distinguish whether people trust you as you have expertise or whether people are questioning your subject knowledge.

Proof reading

Proof reading is when you give a document a final check, looking at grammar, structure, punctuation, paragraphs and the overall content. You determine whether the document has fulfils its purpose and has communicated its message effectively.  When proof reading a document you read it slowly and carefully looking for mistakes. Proof reading is the same as editing and you are able to change something until it is perfect. If you are producing an important document it looks good and gives a good impression if it has been written properly. Proof reading has a big impact and can determine whether it is successful or not.
